The National Humanitarian Conference (October 6, 2026)

The stakes for this conference are high, as international humanitarian funding is falling while the needs of populations at risk are growing! Jean-Noël Barrot’s opening remarks are eagerly anticipated, particularly regarding the outlook he will present for 2027!

The same goes for the three roundtable discussions. Will they simply repeat past discussions—at the risk of going in circles—or will they focus on new solutions?

  • How can we ensure that international humanitarian law (IHL) and humanitarian principles are respected and enforced, given that they are eroding worldwide?
  • How can we reform the humanitarian system to increase its flexibility, particularly in terms of localization, pooling of resources, and logistical initiatives?
  • How can we diversify partnerships with the private sector and new institutional funders, develop innovative financing mechanisms, and ensure that institutional funding is ring-fenced?
